For our standing-seam metal roofing projects, we can custom fabricate roof ventilation components specifically for each roofing system, including custom attic air vents, T-top vents, roof penetration flashings, and plumbing vent flashings.
Wildfire Defense Mesh 98
For appropriate ventilation openings, our custom-fabricated metal vents can incorporate Wildfire Defense Mesh 98, a high-performance stainless-steel mesh designed to significantly reduce the ability of wind-driven wildfire embers to enter vulnerable openings.
Wildfire Defense Mesh 98 features approximately 1/16-inch openings and is manufactured from 304 stainless steel, providing excellent durability and corrosion resistance. The material maintains approximately 62% open area, allowing ventilation while creating a fine protective barrier against dangerous embers.
According to Wildfire Defense Mesh, WDM 98 has demonstrated up to 98% effectiveness in blocking dangerous embers under its testing. The product has also been tested for flame and ember resistance under ASTM E2886 and for surface-burning characteristics under UL 723 / ASTM E84. Custom-Fabricated Metal Roof Vents
Rather than relying exclusively on generic roof vents, Eclipse Remodeling & Roofing can fabricate ventilation components specifically for the standing-seam roofing system.
Our custom metal ventilation assemblies can be designed to integrate with the roof panels and surrounding flashings while incorporating Wildfire Defense Mesh at appropriate air-intake or exhaust openings.
This provides several important benefits:

Our custom T-top ventilation assemblies can also be fabricated specifically for metal roofing applications.
Where appropriate for the vent design and applicable building requirements, Wildfire Defense Mesh 98 can be incorporated inside the ventilation opening to create an additional line of defense against airborne wildfire embers while maintaining the required ventilation area.
Plumbing Vent Penetrations
Plumbing vent penetrations require a different approach.
We custom fabricate the surrounding metal flashing and waterproofing details so plumbing penetrations integrate properly with the standing-seam roofing system. Wildfire Defense Mesh is not installed over or inside plumbing vent openings unless specifically approved for that application by the applicable building authority or engineer, because plumbing systems require unrestricted airflow.
